Green, the Colour of the Season

With 2019 well under way colour trends  are starting to peak through in street wear looks and on the runway. Last year the world saw an epidemic of red being used in clothes, shoes, accessories and makeup but this year green is taking over. Could this be a reflection of the more 'green' friendly practises coming into the fashion industry?

many different shades of green are being utilised; khaki, sage, mint and neon (also a prominent trend of  its own). Personally I find greens with more earthy undertones work better in my personal wardrobe as they pair seamlessly with denim, white and other neutral tones and prove much more wearable then the highlighter green being used as well. As Australia transitions into winter, green can be seen heavily in knitwear and coats but also ditzy green floral dresses that are sticking around from the summer. Pair your green pieces with gold jewellery for a look that leaves an effortless but lasting impact.

Green was seen on the runways of Rag & Bone (fall 2019), where they utilised the military nature of khaki green. Stella McCartney also experimented with military cuts and shapes in her Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear Collection. A shade of green that is equally represented on the streets and on the runaway is lime green, a muted version of the sometimes unattainable neon shades. Kendall Jenner rocked a Saks Potts lime coat whilst on the streets of NYC styled with dark wash jeans and the iconic Balenciaga Triple S sneakers, she looked effortless but still lived up to her model off-duty brand. Lime green did not shy from the collections seen on the run way either,  specifically the Rejina Pyo Spring 2019 Ready-to-Wear Collection. Here lime green and other shades of green was represented in all forms; shirts, bottoms, swimwear, bags and shoe. This really gave the impression of a retro, spring aesthetic.

So dress green this winter whether it by through knitwear and outwear or incorporating it into your outfits through more discrete touches.
